Five Days in Clay: A Hands-On Workshop for Refining Throwing and Hand Building Skills This is an immersive five day, hands-on workshop emphasizing foundational skills and techniques for anyone wishing to enhance their throwing and hand building skills. Clay artists Michael and Gaye Lynn Hodgson will share techniques and practical information that they have gained in their 40 + years working in clay. Activities during the week will be divided equally between throwing and hand building. Michael will offer his ideas and insights for throwing techniques; Gaye Lynn will work with slab building techniques,kurinuki, and integrating slip decoration onto slabs. With a strong emphasis on functional pottery, students will focus on refining skills as well as finding inspiration from workshop leaders and fellow workshop participants. This week in clay is a great way to spark creativity and polish technical skills through a daily practice focusing on form, function and craftsmanship. Because this workshop will emphasize process and skill building, don’t plan to take any pots away at the end of the week, just new skills and insights for moving forward in your studio practice. Students must know how to center and bring: • Apron and one or two hand towels • Sketch book to plan and draw in • Heat Gun if you have it. • Packing materials and boxes to take your leather hard pieces home. We will bisque fire 1 piece for you as a part of the class. *You can make arrangements with 3rd Coast Clay to fire your pieces for a fee. Lunch will be provided each day. Max 12 people.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy: Third Coast Clay holds limited seating, and many of our sessions/events sell out. For this reason, we request that you cancel at least 14 days before your scheduled session/event. This will allow us to offer your spot to another student. Please email us at contact@3rdcoastclay.com Please note, we do not offer refunds. However, if you give us at least 14 day notice of your need to cancel, we will credit your payment toward another session/event. If you do not cancel with at least 14 day notice, you will lose any payments you have already made. 7 Week Cancellation Policy Due to Low Enrollment: Classes are booked based on enrollment minimums. If the 7 week class has less than 4 students the class will be closed for that session and the clients and teacher notified by the Saturday before class was scheduled to start. Touch n Go and Themed Workshop Cancellation Policy Due to Low Enrollment: Classes are booked based on enrollment minimums. If the Touch n Go or Themed Workshop class has less than 3 students the class will be closed for that session and the clients and teacher notified 48 hours before class was scheduled to start.
